Filled Under: Wedding Cake Questions

Please bear with me, I’ll sum it up as best I can, don’t answer if your not willing to read.
I am getting married in a lavender colored dress, that is almost a silver (made the mistake of calling it lilac in previous post) this is not my dress but the color looks the same http://www.1stpromdress.com/products/big… because my dress is from a couple years ago I can no longer find photos online.
The groom will be in all black.
The ceremony will be in my mothers garden that is already beautiful enough without decorations but we are having a reception at the bar where we were first introduced to eachother (luckily a friend owns the place and suggested it, its perfect). The walls there are a deep navy blue, chairs are black, tables are black with silver around the edges.
So my question is what color scheme should I go with for the decorations/cake details
We are skipping over traditional flower centerpieces I would like to make these, using the colors I end up choosing though, NOT THIS EXACT COLOR http://offbeatbride.com/2009/01/diy-orna…
They light up and everything and I think it would add to the already great ambience of the place.
Black or white linens are available if we decide we need them, and I am thinking of putting our favors on silver serving trays like this http://www.richlandspartyhire.com.au/ima… all together one one table, where guests will see when they enter or exit
Our friend also graciously suggested we use the photo frames already in the bar which are silver to display photos of us (black and white) for the night
So with this in mind which colors would you recommend going with and any other decor suggestions would be appreciated. we don’t have a theme, music will be live, with streamed intermissions.
Sorry if this lacks clarity my mind is racing, we have been engaged only since Christmas and things are being officially planned now and coming together so fast. If theres anything that can be clarified just ask

One thing you didn’t mention is what time of the year your wedding is being held? [i'm assuming late spring or summer since you are getting married in your mother's garden] I think a beautiful darker hue of purple would offset your dress and what you describe. It doesn’t have to be a deep purple but kind of a medium color purple. Just my suggestion; hope it helps to further narrow down your ideas!

Go with the three colors you said and add something else. So you had black, navy/blue, and silver. Maybe cream those colors work with cream well.
Good luck, hope you have a great wedding.

Since the colors of the venue are deep navy blue, black and some silver. I definitely wouldn’t get black table linens, it will make everything seem too dark. Go with the white table linens. The grooms suit or tux in black is basically not at issue, but your lavender/silver is what will bring out the first color. You can always go monochromatic, by selecting things in the same color family, by adding shades of purples, or you can totally offset it by bringing in greens (which is also now considered a neutral) and will look perfect with your dress and/or the deep navy of the walls. Also, when in doubt, get white and add a bit of lavender and navy blue in the form of ribbons, candles, etc… Best of Luck

What are you planning to do with those centerpieces? Just lay them in the middle of the table or on something? Just a suggestion, dont know if youve thought about it but you could consider finding a way to hang those centerpieces from the ceiling with a see through string. How do they light up? I didnt look at that part. Anyway you could hang 3 of varying lengths, you know like a suspended light in a restaurant. And on the tables you could do floating candles in a short round bowl with some real flower blossoms floating in it, lavendar blossoms of course. And i like the idea of variations of the same color, purple. Let me know what you think.
